Q1. Why havent I got Opperator status ?

A. Well this is one we seem to get asked alot. First off op's arn't as easy on #UFO as some IRC channels you may come across, There are some people who have many friends on #UFO but still dont have op's. The main reason is alot of people have in the past tried to Take-Over the channel, this has caused the main #UFO channel operators to be a little afraid to say the least. Also there is of course the danger that you might not know what the heck you are doing and this in itself could end up in others taking advantage of your mistakes in order to Take-Over. I am sure you agree that it would be worse to come on IRC and find you cant get on #UFO because some idiots have done a Take-Over than to come on and not get op's.

Q2. So what the heck must I do to get op's ?

A. Well first off you must be patient, it takes months and months. Secondly try to help others out. If you see someone new to IRC or to UFO asking a daft question then help-em-out, it will be noticed and on top of helping them your own request's for help will be taken more seriously too. Thirdly try to stick to the UFO subject. Yea! I know you see us acting daft and its true we all need a break but I personally have been half way though a serious disscusion when next thing you know WHAM! someone decides the talk isn't good enough and they would rather talk about there local shopping arcade. Do this alot and you wont just get a telling off for it! Finally dont think asking for op's helps, if anything its the reverse as people ask "Mmmm! Wonder why he/she wants op's ?".

Q3. OK. So if no ones talking UFO on #UFO then what do I do ?

A. Join in. Sometimes the best discussions come out of nowhere, but remember, if a UFO subject starts being disscused then join in or start a new channel yourself and ask those who wish to continue the fun to go with you!

Q4. A person keeps swearing at me! Also the persons name is highlighted! Why dosent someone stop the idiot ?

A. Ah! Its a /msg he's doing to you. This means we cant see it! Tell a someone on the channel quickly, if there is an op there they will react!

Q5. So I really do like the subject of UFOs where do I find out more so I can impress the people on #UFO like that Kondor fellow does?

A. Well a good place to ask for advice on books is #UFO itself. You might also like to visit some of the WWW pages on the net or even FTP can be used to download files which can hold very usefull info. We aim to keep a list of WWW and FTP areas listed in this newsletter and also get some book reviews done. Why not review the book you have read and tell us what you thought?

Q6. I think Im pretty good with Scripts and Bots can I place one on #UFO ?

A. Big problem here! Scripts have a knack of doing exactly what you do not want, that is get you banned on #UFO, the reason is they seem to go mental, several op's will kick or even ban you if they so much as smell a script. Same rules for Bots. Keep them away.
